2015

The Louisiana Business Emergency Operations Center is relocated to Abdalla Hall on the campus of the University of Louisiana at Lafayette during a formal ceremony on November 3, 2015. The facility also serves as the alternate State Emergency Operations Center (SEOC) in the event the primary SEOC located in Baton Rouge is incapacitated or unable to activate due to a disaster requiring the evacuation of the Baton Rouge area.

Cincinnati’s Virtual Business Emergency Operations Center (VBEOC) provided real-time collaboration between private, public and non-profit organizations as the city hosted the Major League Baseball All-Star Game. Through a partnership with the Greater Cincinnati Ready to Recover (R2R) organization, covering the Greater Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky area, the group adopted the VBEOC software dedicated to disaster preparedness, response and recovery for businesses, coupled with MIR3, Inc., a real-time intelligent notification system, to deliver mass broadcast notifications to VBEOC subscribers. 

2014

The Informatics Research Institute is established July 1, 2014.  The overarching Institute serves as a driver for optimization across the three Centers (National Incident Management Systems and Advanced Technologies Institute; Center for Business & Information Technologies; and the NSF Center for Visual and Decision Informatics) and integration with the broader academic enterprise in the UL Lafayette Research Park.

2013

In 2013, the NIMSAT Institute partnered with Safety Management Systems, an Acadian Company, to create the National Center for Public-Private Preparedness.

2012

The NIMSAT Institute partnered with the International Association of Emergency Managers (IAEM) publishing the Compendium of Public-Private Partnerships for Emergency Management .

The NIMSAT Institute provided operational support during the response and recovery of Hurricane Isaac.

2011                                                        

The NIMSAT Institute was awarded the prestigious Acadiana Innovation the Nonprofit sector by the Greater Lafayette Chamber of Commerce in 2011. 

The NIMSAT Institute provided operational support for the Mississippi River Flooding.

2009 - 2010

The NIMSAT Institute launched a campaign to develop and foster public-private partnerships for disaster management in Louisiana, culminating in the establishment of the Louisiana Business Emergency Operations Center (LA BEOC).

The NIMSAT Institute provided operational support and economic impact assessments for the Deepwater Horizon Oil Spill.      

2008

The Institute provided support to the Louisiana Governor's Office of Homeland Security & Emergency Preparedness and Louisiana Economic Development during Hurricanes Gustav and Ike in 2008 and immediately recognized the gaps in technology and public-private partnerships in emergency management.

2007

The NIMSAT Institute was conceived based on the experiences of researchers at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette, under the leadership of Dr. Ramesh Kolluru, during the devastation of hurricanes Katrina and Rita in 2005. It was established by the University of Louisiana at Lafayette, with formal approval of the Board of Supervisors of the University of Louisiana System, and the Louisiana Board of Regents, on October 25, 2007.
